Screenshot Suite Privacy Policy

Screenshot Suite does not send your screenshots, recordings or annotations to any server. They are processed in your browser and saved on your device. The extension sends nothing at all unless you turn on optional anonymous usage statistics, which are off by default. This page lists every permission the extension asks for, what this website separately processes, and your privacy rights, including under the GDPR.

Who is responsible for Screenshot Suite?

Screenshot Suite is published by Holvine, LLC, a Delaware limited liability company, at 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713, United States (registered agent: Legalinc Corporate Services Inc.; Delaware File No. 10629850; formed May 19, 2026). You can write to us at contact@screenshotsuite.com for privacy questions, requests or complaints.

What does this Privacy Policy cover?

This policy covers Screenshot Suite, this website, communications you send us about either, and related support interactions. It does not cover services operated by third parties, such as Google Chrome, the Chrome Web Store, or any other third-party website or service. Those have their own privacy policies.

What does “never leave your device” cover, and what does it not?

It covers the content you create with Screenshot Suite: screenshots, screen and tab recordings, webcam and microphone recordings, annotations, and exported images and videos. The extension does not upload them to us or to anyone else, and you do not need to create an account or provide registration information to use it. We never collect the content of your captures, nor the address, title or domain of the pages you capture, nor your browsing history.

When you record with the webcam, Screenshot Suite records your microphone as well, together with the video. Both are processed and saved on your device only, like every other recording.

It does not mean that no data exists anywhere. Four things are worth knowing:

  • Settings sync. Screenshot Suite stores your settings (format, delay, checkboxes) with Chrome’s storage. If you are signed in to Chrome with sync turned on, Chrome may synchronize these settings between your devices through your Google account. That is Chrome’s feature, governed by Google’s policies. Your captures and recordings are not part of it.
  • Files you export. Exports are ordinary files in your Downloads folder, saved through Chrome’s download functionality. If you later upload, attach or share them, that is your action and it is governed by the service you use.
  • Optional anonymous usage statistics. Off by default, and only if you turn them on. See “What are the optional anonymous usage statistics?” below.
  • This website. The site you are reading is separate from the extension. See “What does this website collect?” below.

What can the extension access, and why?

Screenshot Suite asks Chrome for the permissions below. It uses each one for the purpose listed and for nothing else.

Permission What Screenshot Suite uses it for
activeTab and scripting Run the capture on the tab you are looking at, and add the webcam bubble and the drawing layer to a tab you record.
tabs Open Screenshot Suite’s own pages (editor, history, video editor, camera permission), find the active tab, and read its address to stamp the URL on a capture or show its source in your history.
storage Keep your settings, hand a capture to the editor, and remember an ongoing recording.
alarms Schedule the optional anonymous usage statistics so they are sent at most once per hour. Nothing is sent if you have not turned them on.
downloads Save captures and recordings to a captures folder in your Downloads folder, and check that a saved file still exists so the local history stays accurate.
webNavigation List the frames of a page, so that frames and cross-origin frames can be captured.
clipboardWrite Copy an image to the clipboard when you ask for it or turn on automatic copy.
desktopCapture Show Chrome’s picker to capture your screen or a window as a still image.
tabCapture Record the current tab.
offscreen Run recording, webcam and video merging in a background document that stays alive while you browse.
notifications Tell you when a capture or recording failed, or that a video is being processed.
contextMenus Add the two right-click menu entries (visible area, select an area).
Access to all websites (<all_urls>) Draw the selection rectangle on any page, scroll and assemble a full-page capture, and capture frames. Screenshot Suite’s page scripts run on the pages you visit so that these modes work. They act when you trigger a capture.
Web-accessible pages Let the webcam bubble appear inside the tab you are recording.

Camera, microphone and screen access are asked for separately and only when you choose an option that needs them, for example the webcam overlay. Chrome shows its own prompt or picker each time you share a screen.

What is stored on your device?

  • Capture history. The last 30 captures and recordings, with a small preview and the source page address, kept in your browser’s local database so you can reopen them. Older items are deleted automatically. You can delete items yourself from the history page. Holvine does not have server-side access to this history.
  • Temporary hand-off data. The latest capture or recording is held in extension storage so the editor can open it.
  • Recording state. Whether a recording or a merge is in progress. This is cleared when the browser closes.
  • Settings. Your options, in Chrome’s storage (see settings sync above).
  • Exported files. In the captures folder inside Downloads, until you delete them. If you delete a file, its entry disappears from the history.

Removing the extension, clearing its storage, or otherwise modifying browser data may delete or make unavailable the information stored locally. Files already saved to your Downloads folder stay where they are until you delete them.

What leaves your device?

By default, nothing. Nothing that Screenshot Suite creates or reads (screenshots, screen recordings, recorded audio, annotations, captured video frames, exported images or exported videos) is ever sent by the extension to Holvine or to any third party. Screenshot Suite does not include advertising or tracking code, does not load remote scripts or fonts, does not need an account, and does not collect a browsing-history profile, passwords or payment information.

Unless you opt in to anonymous usage statistics (next section), the extension makes no request to our servers. One thing happens outside the extension: when you uninstall it, Chrome opens a page on screenshotsuite.com, and the address of that page carries only the extension version and the interface language. It never carries the anonymous identifier described below, and we do not ask why you uninstalled.

These statements describe the current extension functionality and may be updated if the product’s architecture changes.

What are the optional anonymous usage statistics?

They help us see which features are used so we can improve them. They are off by default. At first launch, Screenshot Suite asks whether you want to share them, and nothing is sent unless you say yes. You can turn them on or off at any time in Settings, under Privacy. Turning them off stops any further sending.

If you turn them on, the extension collects:

  • Counts of feature use, from a fixed list of events: that the extension was installed or updated, that a capture, an export or a recording happened and of which type (visible area, full page and so on), and which annotation tool was used.
  • The extension version and the interface language.
  • A random anonymous identifier, generated on your device. It is not linked to an account, to your e-mail address or to your identity, and it is not derived from your browser or hardware. You can reset it in Settings, which breaks any link with earlier statistics.

It never includes what you captured, the address, title or domain of any page, the name or content of a file, or your browsing history.

The events are grouped on your device and sent at most once per hour to a service we run ourselves, on Cloudflare’s infrastructure. We do not use a third-party analytics platform.

Each anonymous event is stored only as a daily aggregated count (one row per day, event type, app version and interface language), never as an individual timestamped record. Your random anonymous ID, together with the one daily record used to detect repeat activity, is automatically and permanently deleted 90 days after that activity. The only thing kept longer is a small set of day-1, day-7 and day-30 retention counts per install day (for example, “40 people installed the extension on a given day, 9 were still active 30 days later”), which by that point no longer contains your anonymous ID or anything else that could single you out.

The statistics service does not store or log your IP address or request headers. As with any internet request, the network and our hosting provider necessarily handle your IP address to deliver the request.

What does this website collect?

Visiting screenshotsuite.com is different from using the extension: the site’s local-processing promise above covers your capture content, not this website’s own technical operation.

Like any website, delivering pages to you involves processing some technical information: IP address, browser type, operating system, device information, pages visited, referring page, and date and time of access. Our hosting provider, Cloudflare, processes this technical data as needed to deliver and secure the site.

The site does not set cookies and stores exactly one preference in your browser (your light/dark theme choice), which never leaves your device. It does not currently run any analytics service. If we later enable Cloudflare Web Analytics (a cookieless service; it would not track you across sites or build a personal profile, but does load a script from, and sends a beacon to, Cloudflare’s own domains), or any other analytics, this page will describe what is collected and, if consent is legally required for the technology used, we will ask for it before switching it on.

Who can see my captures?

You. Because nothing is uploaded, we cannot see, recover or delete your captures for you. Anyone with access to your browser profile or your Downloads folder can see them, as with any file on your computer.

What information do you process when you contact us?

If you write to contact@screenshotsuite.com, we process what you voluntarily send us (your e-mail address, your name if you give it, the content of your message, and any technical information you include) to respond to you, investigate technical problems, respond to privacy requests, prevent abuse, and protect our legal rights. We do not sell support communications or contact information.

Where the GDPR applies, we process personal data only where we have a legal basis: your consent, where required (for example for the optional anonymous usage statistics in the extension, and for non-essential cookies or website analytics if we introduce them); contract or pre-contractual steps, where processing is necessary to provide something you asked for; legitimate interests, such as keeping this website secure, preventing abuse, responding to your messages, or maintaining our infrastructure, weighed against your rights; or a legal obligation we must comply with.

Why do you process information, and how long do you keep it?

Purpose Examples
Website operation Delivering and securing the website
Support Responding to e-mails and technical requests
Product improvement Counting which features are used, only if you turn on the optional anonymous usage statistics
Security Detecting abuse, fraud or attacks
Legal compliance Complying with applicable legal obligations
Rights protection Establishing, exercising or defending legal claims

We do not use screenshots or recordings created through Screenshot Suite for these purposes, because that capture content is not uploaded to our servers as part of the extension’s current functionality.

We keep information only as long as reasonably necessary for the purpose it was collected: optional anonymous usage statistics as described above (the anonymous identifier is deleted after 90 days, and the only longer-lived data is aggregated counts that cannot single you out); support e-mails for as long as needed to resolve the request and keep appropriate records, and information needed to establish or defend a legal claim for the applicable limitation period. Local Screenshot Suite capture history is stored on your device, not in our systems, and is governed by your own browser and storage settings, not by a retention period we set.

Do you use service providers, and is data transferred internationally?

We may use third-party providers to run this website and our business (for example hosting, content delivery, security, or e-mail), such as Cloudflare for this website and for the service that receives the optional usage statistics, under agreements that let them process information only on our behalf. We do not authorize any provider to use your Screenshot Suite capture content for their own advertising or profiling. As a Delaware company potentially using providers in different countries, personal information may be processed outside your country; where the GDPR or similar law requires safeguards for such transfers, we use an appropriate mechanism (such as Standard Contractual Clauses) for them.

What are your rights under the GDPR?

If the GDPR applies to you, you may have the right to confirm whether we process your personal data, access it, correct it, delete it, restrict its processing, object to certain processing, receive certain data in a portable format, and withdraw consent where processing is based on it. Write to contact@screenshotsuite.com to exercise these rights; we may ask for reasonable information to verify your identity, and will respond within the period the law requires. You may also lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority.

What are your rights under U.S. state privacy laws?

Depending on where you live and whether the relevant law applies to us, you may have the right to know or access certain personal information, request its correction or deletion, opt out of certain sales, sharing or targeted advertising, appeal a decision on your privacy request, and not face unlawful discrimination for exercising these rights. Write to contact@screenshotsuite.com to submit a request; we handle it under the law that applies to it.

Do you sell or share personal data?

No. Screenshot Suite does not sell or share personal data, and it does not use data from your browsing to build profiles or show ads.

Is Screenshot Suite meant for children?

Screenshot Suite is not specifically directed to children, and we do not knowingly use it to collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided personal information to us through the website or another communication channel, contact us at contact@screenshotsuite.com and we will take appropriate steps where required by applicable law.

How do you keep information secure?

We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure or destruction. Our local-processing architecture also reduces how much of your capture content we could ever receive or store in the first place. That said, no software, website or transmission method can be guaranteed completely secure; keeping your own device, browser and account reasonably secure is your responsibility too.

Our website and extension may link to third-party sites or services, such as Google, Chrome or the Chrome Web Store. We are not responsible for their privacy practices: review a service’s own policy before giving it information, including before uploading or sharing an exported screenshot or recording with it.

What will change if Screenshot Suite offers a paid plan?

If Screenshot Suite ever offers a paid plan, we will update this policy, with a new date, before it launches.

How will you tell me about changes?

We will change the “Updated” date on this page and describe material changes in the changelog, providing additional notice where the law requires it. If a future version adds cloud features or paid features, if we add a website analytics service, or if we change what the optional usage statistics collect, this policy will be rewritten and, where required, consent obtained, before it ships.

How can you contact us?

Write to contact@screenshotsuite.com, at Holvine, LLC, 131 Continental Dr, Suite 305, Newark, DE 19713, United States. Where the GDPR applies, Holvine, LLC is the controller of the personal information covered by this policy, except where a third party independently determines the purposes and means of its own processing; if applicable law requires us to appoint an EU or other representative, we will do so and provide the required contact details here.
